OysterRock Capital is the culmination of a journey that started in the late 1980’s when the founder started dabbling in stocks in his teenage years. What started as an innocuous hobby, turned into a lifetime of passion, reaching a defining moment after incurring losses in the mid-90s.

Mehul Bhatt has over 20 years of experience of which the over 15 have been spent as a Portfolio Manager in the investment management business with leading asset management companies. He brings a successful record of bottom-up investing along with deep relationships in the Indian ecosystem. Mehul’s last assignment was with HSBC Global Asset Management. He joined HSBC Asset Management India as the Head of Equities, Portfolio Management Services in 2009 and managed the investment till 2014. From 2014 till 2017, Mehul was the dedicated advisor to the India offshore funds totalling around $ 2 billion run out of Hong Kong. He worked with Credit Suisse and at ASK Raymond James Investment Managers for five years till 2008.Mehul Bhatt has built a strong reputation of stock picking with a solid track record in the Indian equity markets. He has a value bias, a bottom up and rigorous approach having met with over 150 companies each year for the last >15 years. He also possesses a strong network with managements, bankers, lawyers and other participants to do an on the ground 'scuttlebutt' .Through the years at HSBC GAM, Credit Suisse and ASK Raymond James, Mehul created a rigorous, fundamentals driven analytical process for stock selection, portfolio construction and risk management. He was also instrumental in raising funds from strategic domestic and offshore investors. Mehul graduated with a MBA from Indian School of Business and has a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
