Exclusions for New India Assurance Health Insurance Plans

Pre-existing Diseases: Any illness that the insured person is suffering from at the time of purchasing the health insurance policy is excluded from coverage. The insurer does not bear any expenses related to the treatment of such diseases.

Waiting Period: There are certain illnesses that are only covered after the expiry of a per-defined waiting period. Depending on the policy, this waiting period can be 24, 36 or 48 months.

Cosmetic Procedures: All cosmetic and plastic surgeries performed to change the appearance of the insured person are excluded from coverage. However, a claim can be raised in case such a cosmetic surgery is necessitated due to an accident.

Hazardous or Adventure Sports: Any expenses for treatments for injuries resulting from participation in adventure sports, such as rock climbing, motor racing, para-jumping, sky diving, deep-sea diving, horse racing, etc, are excluded from coverage.

Self Injury: The insurer does not cover treatment for a self-inflicted injury by the insured person.

Reimbursement for Pre and Post Hospitalization Expenses

Several New India Assurance health insurance plans cover per and post hospitalization expenses up to a certain number of days. To file a reimbursement claim, you can submit all the original bills with supporting documents as well as a copy of the discharge summary and authorization letter to the TPA or third-party administrator.
